Christmas not so Christmas afterall..

I was working night shift on X'mas eve. It was a long long night, with big groups of people streaming in after 12am as if it was meal times. Perhaps i have been working in my cafe for too long or that i have not hit the streets for too long. X'mas has become a festival distant to me. It's just another festival to get together, a much needed off day for working people. What's the point of countdown man? Haha... maybe for youngsters( not that i am old lah ) Oh well, i am sure i will be working on New Year Eve and on New Year again. But at the same time i will be converting to part-time soon!:)

Long long day at work..

Yesterday was quite a crazy day. I had to work split shifts read : 12-2pm, then 8-2am. Somemore it's a saturday lah:S As i thought going back home during the 6 hr interval was a bad idea, kok n al and i went to bugis to have a walk. We ate at the food junction food court... Which i felt the price of food there was expensive. I had Nasi Bryani - 5 plus bucks. It's somewhat an hour of my pay. Kok and i felt al had worms in his stomach, after the beef ball bee hoon soup he had, he boought an ice cream at ground floor, drank dragon fruit juice at bugis street and finally ended with fries and lemon tea drink at Carl's JrO_O Siao lor.. Dunno where the food had all gone to..hahaa. The outing was rather ok. We were all doing window shopping, with kok and al trying a jacket from marina square's Zara. I must say the velvet jacket looks nice and the material feels good. But it's a tad too expensive at 89 bucks. Afterwhich we hung out at the Carl's Jr there and had a lengthy conversation too. Then at 7.20pm i rush off for my second shift of the day.


Ok, this is the killer period. Crowds kept streaming in and the queue was long that customers lined up to the end of the cafe. Everyone, the supervisors and manager were rushing like mad to clear tables once the previous customers had left and we had to keep serving the dishes. Things were just slightly better at 11pm and at 1.30am more than half of the cafe was still occupied! Aaah! At the end of the day, i heard the net earnings of the cafe was 10,000 bucks. I think we should be rewarded for our work lah.


The possibility of doing part-time in january is becoming increasingly imminent...

One more night shift to go...

I kind of hate doing night shifts, particularly the 6-2am working slot. This has been the case for the past 2 days where i have been working till late. It's basically the housekeeping work that makes me shag out. Sweeping and mopping of floor, wiping of tables, washing of cloths etc etc. In short - SAI GANG (shit work)


After the first night, my fatigue level was manageable. I had slept about 6 hours and woke up at 8.45am before going swimming with hw at Mount Faber Safra. But on the second night, the fatigue level kicked in. Upon reaching home, i simply laid flat on my bed and the next timing i woke up, it was already 12.30pm O_O This is utter madness! Right now i am already considering working part time from January onwards. I will have to see how things go from now on..

SHAG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, wow, wow... First day of work at Xin Wang Cafe was already so happening. I just wonder how things would turn out for the rest of the week:/


Today i was taught the respective table numbers and also serving of dishes to the customers. On gauging my work performance today, as a first timer it's not bad already lah. 万事起头难嘛。。 I think i deserve every single cent of my pay man. Lunch and PARTICULARLY dinner time were plain crazy. I had to keep serving my customers during the busy period without any break. Sometimes i had to carry 2 dishes on one tray on my left hand and one big bowl on my right hand. Not easy i must say. I have understood the difficulty of working in the F&B industry. One must please the customer and at the same time not put a foot wrong. I really salute those who has worked before in this field! In the afternoon, the 老总(big boss) of Xin Wang came to our outlet and had a thorough inspection of the place. I heard from my manager that he was the one who accepted my email job application and gave me the job. One of my fellow colleagues even joked that he came down to see me -_-!!! Especially since he has not come down to this outlet for a long while. Everyone single person from the manger to the supervisor to the chef and service staff were so tense up and had to put up a 'good show' for him to see. Hahaha..i also tried hard to find things to do like arranging the chairs and menus. From what i know, he was very stringent and serious with the quality of service and food served. Maybe that is why this particular Xin Wang outlet is one of the busiest around.


My manager has been a great help in making me adapt to the working environment and has also been constantly asking me whether i was able to cope. Not forgetting my supervisors who at first i thought they were 'bo chap' about the service staff. As the day went by, they were able to teach me the proper way of serving dishes. I must say my fellow service staff colleagues are quite friendly and offered their help whenever they could:)


I have brought home the menu of Xin Wang and i am expected to memorise the number codes respective to the dishes. I hope i can master them in soon in due time. I know it's not gonna be easy but i am gonna persevere on:D

I like my Adidas F5 boots!!

Recently i went shopping at Queensway with kok after the lunch-ing at Bugis with Karen. Frankly speaking, it was my worst lunch-ing experience EVER :S But i have since decided to forget about it and just move on...





Ok, now let me continue with my shopping trip with kok. Initially, i had wanted to get a pair of synthetic leather shoes for myself at Queensway. Then that stupid kok in the end made me bought a pair of soccer boots instead! He was getting new boots to replace the spoilt one. Talking about the soccer boots, it's actually cost me $55 after 15% discount. Below is the picture of my beloved shoes, the Adidas F5.

Personally i quite like the feel to the shoes especially the sole. Soles that are too hard are gonna make you hurt. The hardness of my boots is just ok. After a run out at the clementi soccer court today, i must say i am very pleased with my performance. Partly must be due to my new soccer boots. The passing of ball is more crisp, shooting more accurate and my ball control is an improvement. I feel i had more confidence on the ball:) This is somewhat in contrast when i only had my new balance running shoes to contend with. What made me wanted to get a my maiden soccer boots is that playing with running shoes in the long run is gonna hurt my knees in the later years. Ever since i have been so involved in soccer from my secondary school days, i think it is time i own a pair of soccer boots.

Today is probably going to be my 'testimonial(last) match'. I am going to start working on Tuesday, six days a week with normally weekends burnt:/ At least i manage to find something meaningful to do instead of just passing each day aimlessly, staring at computers. I have gotten quite sick of it already. Hahaha... I look forward to learning new skills and making new friends at work. Hopefully it will be an enriching experience for a first timer like me:) 加油！！！

BEST Genting trip!

Now i am gonna blog about the Genting trip we the DVG guys have gone for. Hahaha... Not the Asian XXX Tour QM stated on MSN..

This was where we stayed for 3D 2N. Genting's First World Hotel... Haha... Not so first world afterall as there are no airconditioners, boiler,refrigerator and cable tv. But we had to be satisfied for the $186 we paid for the coach and accomodation. It's quite a good deal already:D

On the cab which we took for 90RM to KL. I think the cab charge could be lower but we had no choice but to hope on. At least we were treated to speeding ride with the speed hitting 120km/h.

This is something one should not miss when you are in Malaysia. DURIAN PANCAKE!! On the outside is a generous serving of the soft fragrant durian flesh with sweet whip cream in it. The heavenly pancake simply melts in your mouth... not in your hands! :P

After returning from Kl that night, we QM, KOK, Al, Tan, HZ and i went for an intensive clubbing session. Yes, HZ wanted to get wasted.. -_-!! We opened a bottle of 300RM Bicardi Apple and had 2 shots of Tequila afterwhich we danced through the night. At one point of time a group of girls even joined us lah. Haha... The above pic was taken when we were exhausted or should i say acting exhausted.

KoK and i were acting cool with the 3D glasses in the Motion Theatre. The show was a complete letdown. The thrilling experience was not even there lah. Just an occasional few miserable sprays of mists at times...

This is the Spaceshot which we have taken.. Considered the scariest ride in the Themepark! The Spaceshot slowly ascends to the top of the tower and despite us trying hard to anticipate when the tower will plunge. The next thing we knew was we were rushing down to Earth! The feeling of free-fall drop was incredible and this was exhilarating fun~

I would say i thoroughly enjoyed this trip not because this is my first Genting trip but i went with a group of guys who were as fun as they can be:) This was a perfect getaway for the recent events and a good time to bond further. I would definitely want to go on another such outing
again!

Felt so good~

Despite it's been drizzling the whole day, my mood hasn't been dampened one bit. Just felt that the bus ride on 145 was too long - rain, traffic jams and peak hour just made it worse. But nevertheless, I enjoyed my dinner with ying hui, poh yee and kok. The 小笼包 is a must try and the 拉面 too. To top it up, we had 麻婆豆腐 and fried pancake which tasted like roti prata 0_0

The moment we had our dinner, we proceeded to play the arcade games at the basement level. Basketball throwing and also the 'spot the difference game' are what we really enjoyed alot! Though at times ying hui can somehow throw the ball into me n kok while we were so focused on scoring lah. Dangerous at times but it's really very funny! At least i get to test my reflexes to avoid the incoming ball:P

I must say i have never felt this good and elated before. The joy of hanging out with friends and catching up with them... I don't mind going more often to such outings in the future!

Yes yes, i have just set up my own personal blog. From now on, whichever stuff i feel like typing
into this blog, i will do so. HW and i went for a haircut just a few blocks away from my house. It's
damn cheap lah. Only 8 bucks!!! Where to find sia? There is this first ever comment i hear from
the hairdresser who was in her late 40s 'Are u two brothers?' -_-!! haha, it's very ridiculous cos
we look different lah, similar in the sense that we are civilians, that's all. But nevertheless, this is
something we can just laugh and forget.
